What people have said about Boonhill
We booked a weekend escape from busy jobs in London for our 1st wedding anniversary. This place was exactly that! People in Yorkshire are the friendliest we've ever met. Madeline was so generous and understanding about our lack of forward planning; from driving us to the pub for dinner - to lending me wellies for muddy walks!
"Fantastic stay in the wonderful Yorkshire Moors"
In the summer of 2015 we were at Boonhill for the first time and it was great! So we have been longing to come back there ever since. And this summer (2017) we had the opportunity to visit Boonhill again. As the other time, we were happy with the hospitality of Lin and Peter. The beautiful surroundings of the beautiful Moors were as stunning as before. The weather wasn't always stable, but good enough to make nice outings to the countryside (Rosedale, Egton, the coast near Whitby) and to the city of York.
And it really was no punishment to stay in the apartment for a day, because it had been renewed (the kitchen and the bathroom), so it was even more luxurious than it was before.
Thank you Lin and Peter for renting this wonderful place!
"Middle of Paradise!"
Just got back from a weeks holiday at boon hill apartment in Fadmoor a beautiful location on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors. This apartment is within easy distance of the East Coast of Yorkshire, York, Thirsk, the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway going through "Heartbeat" country. The apartment is very well equipped with everything you need on arrival. Our hosts lin and Peter had put a lovely cream tea out for us. Thanks Lin and Peter for a wonderful week and see you at Easter. This property is located in a wonderful setting.
"The perfect place with the perfect hosts"
Absolutely loved it here - it really is excellent. The location is stunning and peaceful and everything in the apartment is of the highest specification and squeaky clean. The bathroom in particular was beautiful but what made this so special was Madelaine who is such a lovely person who I hope to meet again. She even offered to give us a lift home at night so we could drink - such a helpful lovely lady with a wicked sense of humour - I'll definetly be back
Had a lovely weekend break, apartment ideal and in a lovely location. Lin and Peter made us feel very welcome, so nice we didn't want to leave, will definitely be back, highly recommended.
"Beautiful property, lovely owners"
Boonhill was a lovely property, easy to find and a great location to explore the Yorkshire Moors. Lin and Peter were great hosts, lovely people and very friendly without being intrusive. The cottage was more than adequate with the best, most comfortable bed we found in our five weeks in England. We both felt comfortable and 'at home' here. Would highly recommend this property to others.
"An ideal hideaway"
Reviews: Spent 6 nights on a very peaceful and secluded site with only the birds and hares for company. The owners Mr & Mrs Johnson were very friendly and helpful. There are 3 basic level grass pitches with water power and toilet drop on each. The views are stunning and we saw the hares close to the pitch nearly ever day. The site is an ideal hideaway with no overlooking buildings. The pitches are well spaced and virtually private. Visitors must check out the WW2 observer post that has been sympathetically restored and the cold war underground bunker adjacent to it, The stone circle is an easy moderate walk away and with a table provided is a super picnic place. Boon Hill is ideally located as a hub for visiting the local attractions, NYM steam railway, Reivaulx Abbey, Helmsey Castle, and Scarbourgh are all within a reasonable distance. We are more than happy to recommend this site to others and would consider returning in the future. Mobile and datasignal (EE) was acceptable.
"A real gem of a site"
Very private with spectacular views across the moors and wonderfully welcoming hosts. We will be back. This was our first visit to the site at Boon Hill and it definitely won't be our last. The site is privately situated within the national park and has spectacular panoramic views across the surrounding moors. There is no road noise and very little light pollution. In fact there is little to disturb the peace except for the inhabitant owl! It's ideal for walking and a short drive to the coast, North York Moors Railway and all of the attractions the national park and York have to offer. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and our girls will miss feeding the cart horse. All in all, it's a real gem of a site and we will be returning before it gets too popular.
"Wonderfully peaceful hideaway site"
We have just spent our first weekend on this wonderfully peaceful hideaway site and it definitely won't be our last! Peter was very welcoming and helpful. For four days all we heard was the sound of the birds, there is absolutely no road sound and almost no light pollution, just a huge sky. The pitches are big, set in 3 bays each with its own water, electric hookup and cdp. There are lots of walks within a very short distance of the site and also walks on the site up to the Stone circle and to the 2nd world war and nuclear bunkers with amazing views in all directions. There is a wide variety of bird life. We had the site to ourselves for most of the time so there was absolutely nothing to disturb the absolute peace and quiet and our dog loved having such a big back garden! It won't be long before we return.
"Wow, what a find!"
Amazing secluded site for peace and relaxation. Stone circle was amazing for a short walk! Superb hideaway site with a lovely welcome and attentive owners. The WW2 look out, Cold War Nuclear bunker and ancient Stone Circle were all amazing for a little walk on site, our 2 kids loved it. Would recommend this site to anyone, providing you can live without a toilet or shower block. Really enjoyed the stay.
"Superb site tucked away in the quieter part of the moors"
The road to this site looks narrower on Google earth than it is, with good visibility but inexperienced towers may baulk, but please don't. We had no problems with our 24ft van. Beautiful views across the Vale of Pickering or the Moors. The site is on the edge of a private airfield so if your lucky you get to see small planes take off and land! Three bays each with water and a chem. disposal point (Sunk wc pan in manhole unusual -but no splashback). Good pub in Gillamoor with good food. Pub in Fadmoor appeared closed. All the main attractions in easy reach. You must look at Bransdale which is beautiful and not a popular as other dales. The owner is also renovating a war time observation post. We had wonderful 3 nights all on our own, so peaceful!
